The Growth Team is dedicated to supporting the department's goals of driving aggressive digital subscription growth and optimizing channel expenses. This team is responsible for driving all subscription types for 200+ local Gannett markets, USA TODAY, and USA TODAY Crossword. The Growth Team owns and manages the media expenses across multiple acquisition channels and collaborates with key internal departments to manage onsite assets, meter optimization strategy, checkout experiences as well as platforms and payment options to drive conversions.
Job Purpose
The Growth Marketing Manager will be responsible for the strategy and planning of various acquisition and retention-based efforts for USA TODAY Crossword. The ideal candidate will be highly analytical and detail-oriented with a thorough understanding of digital marketing channels and user touchpoints across web and native experiences. This position will be responsible for working cross-functionally to develop strategies geared towards optimizing and growing USA TODAY Crossword subscribers, overseeing Growth campaign development, and reporting.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Continuously expand and optimize the user acquisition funnel for USA TODAY Crossword
- Work with key stakeholders across teams (Growth leads – acquisition and retention, Product, Brand, Creative, etc.) to drive the Growth strategy for USA TODAY Crossword
- Own the oversight and development of reporting for USA TODAY Crossword which will provide insights that will be used across acquisition, retention and product teams to optimize various efforts
- Lead campaign management for USA TODAY Crossword, including creative briefing, messaging, and pricing strategies
- Operate as the Growth lead on cross-functional meetings to ensure all efforts are accounted for while keeping stakeholders informed and accountable
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and/or relevant experience
- 2+ years developing and driving results through digital marketing related efforts for a complex and digitally-focused organization
- Ability to think outside the box to test, learn, and fuel new tactics
- Ability to interpret data to inform actionable insights that inform acquisition and retention strategies
- Demonstrated strength in analytical skills pertaining to digital marketing channels and touchpoints
- Ability to effectively communicate cross-functionally with all levels
- Ability to prioritize tasks and projects appropriately, understanding what involves the most urgency
- Efficient in MS Office Suite, most notably PowerPoint and Excel
- Stellar written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience analyzing and manipulating different data sets
- Experience collaborating with product teams to optimize growth efforts
- Experience with analytics platforms such as Google Analytics and Tableau
- Experience running analytically-rigorous experiments and making data-driven decisions
- Experience optimizing channel-based efforts to improve efficiency
This is a remote position. The eastern time zone is preferred.

The annualized base salary for this role will range between $59,400 and $140,300. Variable compensation is not reflected in these figures and based on the role, may be applicable. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, location, and union representation, if applicable.
